Two of my kids are off ice-skating today, and again then again next week, and it brings a whole different dimension to getting ready in the morning….
Save the school notice advising parents of the upcoming trip. I cut off the permission part and then keep the info in a safe place (on top of our fridge), so that the organising sticks to the official information and doesn’t become something that the kids have a say in.
Check their school bags yourself – just because they told you they put something in their bags doesn’t mean they did. School trips are exciting for kids, and teachers are frazzled, make sure that everything is in the bag so that the best time possible can be had.
Prepare your kids for the possibility of things going wrong. For example, today the weather is marginal, rain expected off and on all morning, and potential sleet later in the day. Not a great outlook, so I prepped the kids that if the weather turns bad it is possible that they would cut the trip short.
Trips can be stressful for parents, kids and the teachers … do your best to keep the stress down, and the enjoyment high.
