I almost made a mistake this morning. I almost let myself get too busy, too stressed, too manic, and I was very tempted to try and force my way through my to do list.
It is so easy to do. We believe that we’ll feel better, more energetic, more able to cope if we just tick more things off the list … it’s a lie. You’ll feel rundown, grumpy and unable to be the parent that you want to be.
Filling your Mum Glow cup is the answer, and now that I have been for a run with the dog, I feel centred, grounded and able to cope. I realise that my list isn’t even that long, nothing on it desperately needs to be done today. I realise that time isn’t racing away from me, but my perspective was. For me, it’s been 10 days since I went for a run – no wonder I wasn’t quite coping.
Running is my absolute go-to fill me up thing, but it is probably not for everybody … what could you do to fill your Mum Glow cup, what is the thing that you know will make you feel more centred, more grounded, more yourself? And then ask yourself when the last time you did that was?
