Now, I don’t get sick very often. I can’t really let myself get sick, and typically I’m able to hold any cold or flu symptoms at bay for a long period of time. However, this weekend, after a week of kids dropping like flies, and me also not getting enough sleep, my body decided that it needed a real rest, and I am now under the weather with a head cold.
This is always tricky, as just as I’m getting sick, the kids are back to bouncing off the walls healthy. So here are my tips for staying on top of everything:
Set up camp in the space where (or near) where your children are – there is no advantage to going to bed, you will just get frustrated and angry at being interrupted.
Let your children know that you are feeling a bit sick – they love to help, and will shower you with love and attention if you let them – glasses of water, snacks, hugs.
Keep your sense of humour – being sick is just one of those things that happen – laugh at the funny conversations, or craziness that happens, and know that you’ll be better soon.
Of course, there are lots of doctors out there, and pharmacists, and health shops that can help with other ways to feel better, but the above 3 tips are my contribution to the equation.
