Today I got pushed outside of my comfort zone. I went on a 22km mountain bike ride, which took 1hr and 53mins. We rode along a lake track, up some hills, through an orchard on a muddy, puddle-filled track, downhill, through a wee town, back along the lake track and back to where we started. It was a big effort for me, I normally do about half that sort of distance, but there is something wonderful about being pushed to your limits.
During the ride, I would hesitate to say that I was filled with Mum Glow, but sitting here in front of the fire late in the day, I feel an enormous sense of achievement. I have obviously filled up my Mum Glow cup, I can tell because of how I am able to cope with the kids this evening. My calmness and my ability to ease tensions, stay happy, and enjoy the moment, are all indications of that.
Sometimes something that we might have dreaded, or found difficult, can have unexpected pockets of wonderfulness.
