Everything is going smoothly, the days are flowing nicely, and there is a wee glitch, and then everything falls apart.
Kids are playing wonderful games, camaraderie reigns supreme, and then we throw in a visitor.
We are calm, organised, patient, efficient and wonderful parents, but then we throw in a late night …
All of these scenarios ring true with me today – I am tired, so I am struggling to remain upbeat, relaxed, and understanding. The kids have lost their mojo, due to having visitors and changing up our routine for a couple of days, and then I mess with the flow of the day, because for some reason I think it won’t matter too much …. (Note to self – it always matters!)
So I’ve fallen off the bandwagon – which is a ridiculous saying – but you know what I mean. I’d prefer to say that there is a wee ‘ebb’ happening in our lives, rather than the ‘flow’ that we aim for … and that is perfectly normal! Perfectly perfect. Like the ‘Ebb and Flow’ of the waves on the beach, so it is normal, and perfect to have an ‘Ebb and Flow’ in our lives.
Nothing to be guilty about, nothing to be resentful of, or angry at … it just is, and just as the ebb and flow of the water continues, as will our lives. We just need to breathe through the setbacks, pick ourselves back up and look out for the ‘Flow’.
Take an action step – go for a walk, change the channel on your mood, make a cup of tea. We are going for a walk to feed my horse … What is the action step that helps turn the tide in your life?
