So this morning everything seems to be going well.
Kids are happy, did their morning jobs (we had a brief altercation about hair-brushing, but that’s normal), and now they are all playing nicely while my energy is seriously lacking.
I’ve even done some things that normally put me in a better frame of mind. MY washing is on, and that never seems to happen in the week, as I always prioritise the kids washing for some reason …. I’ve done exercise this morning, am drinking a green smoothie, and have done my online grocery shopping for the week. All positive things …
But… I have something planned to do this morning that I really just DON’T want to do. I know it, my resistance is strong, and my mood deflated. Sometimes we have these things in our lives that we just don’t want to do, and we have a choice.
We either do it – eat those frogs legs – OR we don’t – put ’em back in the fridge.
I am really liking that analogy, and I’ve heard it a couple of times this week from different sources. The thing is we DO have a choice in how we get those awful things done, that just need doing. We can stretch it out over hours (or days/ weeks), with it weighing on our minds, or we can just get in and get it done, fast and furiously.
It’s funny that when my kids have these sorts of dilemmas, then I am a huge advocate of JUST GET IT DONE – but when it comes to me, and my stuff – it’s hard to take my own advice. I am hopeful that I’m not the only one with these sorts of seemingly ‘double standards’.
We are full of pearls of wisdom and nuggets of knowledge for our kids – and that stuff we teach them, those values, those hints and tips that will get them through life easier and more successfully – they are brilliant, we are experts!
So – here is the challenge for the week – TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE.
Let me know how it goes for you ….
