So, this morning I had had enough!
Enough of repeating myself, enough of finding clothes stuffed into cupboards instead of in drawers, enough of constantly having to check if what I had asked to happen, had actually happened… And this resulted in me having a little bit of a yelling tantrum to try and get everyone’s attention and make them listen to me …
It did make ME feel marginally better, but it didn’t really work. It didn’t stop the tears, in fact they got worse, and now included two children crying instead of just one. It didn’t make the jobs happen any quicker, in fact my daughter went to her bedroom to read her book and escape rather then fold her washing. And my husband looked at me like I’d grown two heads.
Things were going wrong, but they were going wrong in me. Time for some deep breaths and some journaling, thinking, meditation or some simple ‘slap in the face’ moments – figuratively of course.
This is the REALLY BIG CLUE that you need some Mum Glow – time to relax, pamper yourself, or even just get out there and do something that you know will make you feel good, like a run.
When we get busy, we get excited about all the things we have booked, the parties we are going to, the friends we are meeting, the momentum we are gathering around our work … we do forget to focus on looking after ourselves.
It’s really important – it should be your first priority.
