Yesterday I had a dilemma.
I had two loads of washing to be hung out on the line and I was going to be out of the house for about 3 hours. The clouds were rolling in, and there had already been spits of rain throughout the day at different times.
But the wind was warm, and brisk, and I was conflicted. Hang it out and hope, or leave two loads of wet washing in the house?
The weather forecasts were all about the bad weather coming, and I knew once it hit, I’d be in for a couple of days of rain.
What to do?
I’m sure we’ve all been in this situation. It was different when we were kids we didn’t have these adult issues, when we were teenagers we threw everything in the wash, and then overused the dryer, as university students it was oh well, or hang it up inside, and who cares about the clothes-line, if we even had one at our flats. But now that we are mums, with loads and loads of washing, that never ever ends – hanging things out on the line is a really important thing – how did we get to that point of being so grown up?
In the end I took that risk – I didn’t care – if it rained then the washing could stay on the line for a couple of days – the kids had so many different clothes that they could wear – I just didn’t want the wet clothes in the house.
On this occasion – I made the right decision. But it does make me smile at the sometimes trivial things that occupy my mind now that I’m a mum.
Have a good week xx
