Today I’m tired.
Today I’ve used up a lot of my reserves of energy and am struggling to pull myself up.
Today I feel drained.
So, what do I do about it?
This is where knowing my personality, and my parenting personality preferences helps A LOT!
I’m an extreme extrovert – and happy being that person – but there is the temptation when I get down and energy-less to hide, to go back to bed, to turn inwards.
For me – this is the wrong thing to do if I’m ‘looking for energy’.
For me – this would be extremely counter-productive, and would cause my whole day to be a failure in my eyes.
For me –
- I need people – so at 7am this morning I’ve got a webinar playing in my background, or for others it would be talkback radio (which is not dissimilar to a webinar or a podcast) – not music, not quiet, not brainless background noise – I need something that engages my brain, engages my need to connect with people. As the day goes on, this could mean having the TV on in the background – the TV news, the morning informercials – it sounds crazy but this is how an extrovert starts to turn around negative energy.
- I also need Action in my world – so going out of my house today to get interaction may be something that I need to do.
- Variety is a big deal for my energy as well – so even though it may feel like the last thing that I want to do – inviting friends over for pizza will get my energy up, as I frantically start getting organised for having people in my life.
