I love winter sport …
… Not for the early mornings in the wintery weather.
… Not for the spending all day at it.
… Not for the coffee.
… Not for the grizzly, tired kids at the start of a new week.
… Not for the long driving to get to each pitch for games.
but I do really love it.
- Kids doing winter sport definitely keeps the weekend humming along.
- Doing a team sport of any kind is really important for kids to learn to get along with others, even when they don’t know them very well, or when they are tired or losing the game – good life lessons.
- I love the time to chat to mums, dads and coaches on the sidelines. We are so busy with our lives, that we joke about catching up with people but never do. Weekend winter sport, allows mums and dads to stand on the sidelines for an extended period of time chatting and catching up week after week. Thus is my favourite part!
It was a mixed bag of results yesterday – draws, wins and loses. We had 3 kids get ‘player of the day’ – based mostly on their fitness, from what I could tell as two in particular just kept running, and trying right till the end. It was a long day – 8 games of soccer over a morning and afternoon, plus hubby and I both coach – not because we know anything about soccer, but because we know things about kids, and Google is a good friend when it comes to ideas for training.
Starting the Monday feeling a bit blah and tired, but it’ll perk up once 6.30am rolls around.
My plans are kids, exercise, groceries, and coffee this morning …. what is on your plan for the day?
