Sometimes there is no rhyme nor reason as to what crazy game can keep kids entertained …. And my kids have a few traveling ones that hold the arguments and boredom at bay.
- My kids have recently discovered that my car has an ‘outside temperature gage’ on the dashboard …. And watching it go up and down as we drive anywhere and call out the new temperature has kept them entertained for weeks – no kidding!
- With the short days we are often finding ourselves driving home in the dark at the end of the day and this is where “ghost-lights” has become a fun thing to look for and yell out when they see one. (Ghost lights = another cars lights driving towards you).
- “Yellow car, no backs!” Is another yelling type of game where the kids have to be the first to spot an unusual colour and repeat the above phrase. I believe there is a reason for the ” no backs” part of the statement but the kids don’t know why they say it.
Of course, there are the other favorites that I pull out from my own childhood, like “I spy” or “Cricket” but the rules are all different then when I did them, so sometimes it’s better to let them come up with their own crazy entertainment. Otherwise we just end up getting angry that the rules have changed, and our favourite shave been altered.
What fun winter weird games are your kids getting into?
