Yep, sometimes with everything I know, and everything I do around my parenting there are still days where I just want to hide in my bedroom and not be responsible for anything.
It is these moments when actually you get called on the most to deal with stuff. A pet lamb isn’t drinking, I need to check their bedrooms to get the kids morning jobs ticked off, I need to listen to someone read their school reading book …. These things happen every day, it’s just it feels like nails across a blackboard on the mornings you need to hide.
So, what do I do?
- I try to keep my voice calm.
- I actually try not to talk much at all.
- I move into spaces where the kids are and try and deal calmly with every situation.
- I have a longer shower to prep myself.
- I deliver instructions and give time limits on when I expect things to be done.
- I breathe slowly, and watch the time slip by.
- Perspective helps …….
It’s just a day. It’s just a moment. It’s a sign that you need to take some time for you today.
For me, I’m letting hubby take the kids to school, and I’ll walk the dog, and stay home. I’ll enjoy a few moments of peace before I get into my day. And I’ll be aware throughout the day that I’m tired, and need to look after myself. I’ll try not to overdo things.
When you are feeling like this it’s important to look into your own personality, and do something that benefits you. For my personality I need variety – changing up my morning routine gives me a burst of energy and helps get rid of the feeling of wanting to hide from the world.
