I love reflecting on my year.
Who I have become, who my children now are, how we as a family have grown and developed.
This is the time to sit down with your kids and talk to them about the fun things that happened for them over the last year. To reminisce about the successes, and wonder at the disappointments.
This is the time to ask your kids what they want to achieve or do in the year ahead as well. If something didn’t work out for them last year, if they didn’t make the top sports team or move up a reading group, or pass the ballet exam, then you can talk about how you as a parent can help them get past those setbacks moving forward.
Reflecting and then planning ahead are really important tools to teach our kids, and to reflect on our own goals and dreams.
I would suggest that you open up a memo pad in your phone though to make a note of what your kids say, so that when the time comes you actually can help them in the future to achieve the things that they are moving towards.
Last week of 2015!
