I know that we may not be ready to think about getting organised for school just yet. But one of the things about getting ready this week, (rather than 2 days prior) is that you can then enjoy the lead up days to school starting without stress or pressure.
Your kids will be able to go to school in a fresh way and be set up the best way for success if you get sorted early. Just because you might be better at working under pressure (perceiving personality) doesn’t mean your child (with a judging personality) is coping the same. Even my Perceiving daughter was questioning me about when her new school books were arriving, and if I’d ordered them yet.
Aside: (You may be wondering why a Perceiving Personality would do that – which doesn’t make much sense unless you add her Feeling preference as well, which focuses on harmony, and looking out for the needs of others).
With the online shopping now there are many places to get your school stationery – even if you live in town you can still order online, rather than take your children with you to walk around a shop to look for 3 1A5 books, or a 8B1 or any other stressful combinations of letters and numbers that are difficult to find, when you have a toddler around your feet, it’s hot out, and you’d rather be somewhere else.
Because I live semi-rural, in an area without many shops, I learned to become adept at online opportunities as a matter of necessity, but after a conversation with a friend over Christmas I realised that this stress-less option isn’t widely used by those of us that live in towns, or cities. Online shopping is so easy – and a lot of places do deliver with free postage as well. It is a time-saver, a stress-saver, is quick, and you can do it in the evening while the kids are in bed, and it arrives within 24-48 hours – no kidding.
I did my stationery buying online on Tuesday lunchtime, and was surprised that there was someone at my gate on Wednesday morning, dropping two boxes off. Because I’d only just done the order, I had no idea what was being delivered, or by whom, and was pleasantly surprised to find it had taken such a quick turnaround.
A wee play around with this forum can really make the getting back to school process much easier than it needs to be – it’s worth a look.
