Trying to keep my equilibrium and breathe at the moment, and it is the TV coverage of the Olympics that is helping with this.
I have always loved watching the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games, and it is fun to see my kids become interested as well. They are studying the Olympics at school, and then watching it at home with us, and we are talking about different sports, athletes, different countries, flags, different rules in sports, how the competitions work, and how teams advance from pool play, or to a repecharge, or from times.
This is a great example of how learning at school and learning at home can work together.
The Olympics happens every 4 years, so if you get the chance to watch some either through free TV ( I tape it overnight and watch with the kids the next morning), pay TV (where you can choose easily the sports you want to watch) or on the Internet with your kids then you should take it.
But be prepared for lots of questions!
I downloaded a Rio 2016 app which means I’m learning about the sports too, while answering questions. So, lots of conversation, lots of learning, and making connections with my kids, all while watching sport.
How are you connecting with your kids this week?
