Why not try to do it all?
Why not try to be a great mum, a great woman, and a great friend, partner, sibling, child, colleague, member of society …..?
Why should we settle?
Why should we give up the best parts of ourselves when we become a mum? But again, and again, we do settle, we do give up, we do think that we have to let parts of ourselves go …
Why don’t we let our life ebb and flow a bit? Yes with a newborn baby there are some changes. Yes, with 2 or 3 kids there are some changes. Yes with work and the juggle there are some changes …. But oftentimes we CHOOSE those changes.
We have beliefs about what it is to be a parent, to be a mum, we choose to act from those beliefs. But maybe those beliefs are outdated. Maybe you don’t need to give up your fitness and take on the muffin-top when you become a mum. Maybe you don’t need to give up your business savvy when you have toddlers at your feet. Maybe you don’t need to feel like the unappreciated taxi-driver for your teens.
My thought for you this week is this:
– who do you love to be?
– who do you introduce yourself as?
– who is the person in you, that you most identify with, that you most get lit up by?
Figure that out this week, and put a bit more of that in your life 🙂
