Resistance to journaling.
Resistance to daily stuff.
Resistance to doing the work that needs done.
Resistance to change.
Just general pig-headedness that doesn’t even make sense.
Just want to put my head in the sand, and pretend that it’s all okay.
And it’s the same with what I see in parenting.
We all know what we should sort-a-be-doing, and we just don’t.
It’s just a big resistance thing, and that we don’t want to deal with, because if we deal with it then we might have to actually face some things that we don’t want to face.
It’s a natural human reaction that if we know it’s going to be bad, then it’s best to avoid it. And yet it doesn’t actually get better unless we deal with it.
Big Catch 22.
The stuff that we’re avoiding has gotten so big in our head that we don’t even know how to even TRY and fix it. So, even if we were to face things head on in our parenting, we don’t even know where to start, it’s gotten too big or too out of control, and actually we don’t even know if WHAT we think we should be doing will help anyway.
The biggest thing with parenting that I come across today, is that we have no confidence in turning anything around. Confidence doesn’t just appear. It doesn’t arrive out of nothing. Knowledge is the key, grow your knowledge around an area that is a struggle for you or your children, and once you have got knowledge around it, start implementing that knowledge and growing your confidence.
And of course, I’m always here to lend a listening ear, or give our some advice too!
Avoiding the problem doesn’t fix the problem.
Not knowing what to do, doesn’t fix the problem.
But trying to fix it, trying some new things…? Well that just might fix the problem, so give something different a try, and don’t just give up.
In all honesty, if you are trying things yourself and things aren’t changing, and you are overwhelmed and don’t know where to go next. Please just reach out and have a chat – get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org and have a conversation with me about what you need.
My 6 Week Coaching Intensive is my signature programme, and my most transformative one, but I also have some online programmes available for you to work through at your own pace, that may also be something that works for you.
Here we go Monday – new week.
Have a good one.
You can ABSOLUTELY be the parent that you want to be, and it may mean reaching out for some advice, but it’ll be worth it.
