At the end of another week.
Once again this week has disappeared so fast my head is spinning, and as a result the kids are also probably feeling the effects of the end of a busy term. And while we are good at giving ourselves a bit of a break when we need to, and we understand and are more lenient when our partners are tired, are we giving the same consideration to our kids?
This is short and sweet today, but it’s still important.
Think about your child, or each of your children, this weekend, and think about what they need from you.
Maybe they need more quiet time.
Maybe they need people around.
Maybe they need more detail around your plans when you are communicating with them.
Maybe they need a wee surprise to life their spirits.
Maybe they need a break from their siblings.
Maybe they need to spend some time doing something creative with art or with writing, or with building or making something.
Maybe some one-on-one time with you or their father is what’s needed.
Maybe a couple of early nights.
Maybe some fresh air and movement …
Sometimes in the weekends we are really good at deciding on how the days go, because of our needs, and the weather…
What I’m suggesting is to reach out some stage this weekend and do something that your child needs – even if it doesn’t excite you.
Have a good weekend and REMEMBER you can ABSOLUTELY be the parent that you WANT to be.
